Privacy Policy

Torel Forge Corp. (“we”) sets out below how we handle information in Mr.Dentaku (“the app”), our calculator app for Android. The app is published in Japan as でんたクン(プロ仕様).

1. Information we collect

The app has no sign-up and no login. We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, telephone number or location through the app.

What you calculate, and the numbers you put in your pockets, are stored only on your device and are never sent to our servers.

2. Information stored on your device

To make the app convenient to use, it stores the following on your device. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

• The numbers, names and calculations you keep in your pockets
• The arrangement of the function keys, discount rates and similar settings
• The colour theme and the text size
• The exchange rates fetched most recently
• Whether Remove Ads has been purchased
• The tax rates you use, including any rate you set yourself
• How many times the app has been launched (so that no full-screen ad appears on the very first launch)
• How many times you have put a number into a pocket, and the version in which we last asked you for a review (so that we do not ask repeatedly)
• Whether you allowed the camera (the permission only — no imagery is included)
• Your advertising consent or preference (only for people in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and in certain US states — see sections 9 and 10)

Neither the camera image nor the text read by the camera is stored, on your device or on our servers.

3. Advertising

The app shows ads through Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. In order to deliver ads, measure their effect and prevent fraud, Google may obtain information such as:

• Your device model, OS version, language and similar settings
• Your IP address and the approximate region inferred from it
• How many times an ad was shown and whether it was tapped
• An identifier assigned per app
• Your device’s advertising ID (see below)

For advertising, the Android advertising ID may be used. The advertising ID is an identifier assigned to your device for advertising purposes, and you can reset or delete it at any time in your device’s Settings (Google → Ads; the wording varies by device). If you delete it, you will see general ads rather than interest-based ads.

Once Remove Ads has been purchased, the app stops loading ads.

4. Measuring how well our own advertising works

We sometimes advertise the app on Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook and Instagram). To count how many people who saw such an ad went on to install the app, it includes Meta’s measurement software (the Facebook SDK). The following is sent to Meta:

• A record that the app was installed and launched
• A record that Remove Ads was purchased
• Your device model, OS version, language and similar settings
• An identifier assigned per app

Here, the app is set not to send your device’s advertising ID to Meta. The effect of our advertising is aggregated from the records above.

5. Use of the camera

Scan & Convert uses the camera to read an amount printed on a price tag or similar. The first time you use it, your device will ask for permission to use the camera. If you decline, only this feature becomes unavailable; everything else continues to work. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device’s Settings (Apps → Mr.Dentaku → Permissions).

Reading is performed entirely on your device, using Google’s ML Kit text recognition, which is built into the app. Neither the camera image, nor any captured picture, nor the recognised text is stored on your device or transmitted to us or to any third party. Nothing is saved to your Photos library.

The app does not request access to your photo library.

6. Obtaining exchange rates

When you use a currency button or Scan & Convert, the app connects to a public service operated by ExchangeRate-API (AYR Tech (Pty) Ltd) at open.er-api.com in order to obtain exchange rates. The only thing it does is retrieve the latest list of rates; your calculations, the amounts you enter and any text read by the camera are never sent. As with any internet connection, your IP address is visible to the service you connect to.

Retrieved rates are stored on your device and are not requested again for a period of time.

7. Purchases inside the app

The purchase of Remove Ads, and the payment for it, are handled by Google LLC through Google Play. We never receive payment details such as your card number. Whether you have purchased it is determined on your device by checking your Google Play purchase record.

8. Disclosure to third parties

We are a company incorporated in Japan under Japanese law, with our head office in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. We operate the app in accordance with Japanese law, including the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

Because we do not collect personal information through the app, we do not disclose personal information to third parties. The only destinations the app sends information to are the four described in sections 3, 4, 6 and 7 above. We pass information to no other company or organisation, whether inside or outside Japan.

• Google LLC (showing ads)
• Meta Platforms, Inc. (measuring the effect of our advertising)
• ExchangeRate-API / AYR Tech (Pty) Ltd (obtaining exchange rates)
• Google LLC (handling purchases inside the app through Google Play)

Each of them handles information in accordance with its own published privacy policy.

The numbers you calculate, the amounts you keep in your pockets and the names you give them are never transmitted anywhere. They are stored only on your device, and we cannot see them.

9. For people in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

This section applies to people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Legal basis: where device identifiers and similar data are used for personalised advertising, we rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Processing needed to provide the app and to prevent fraudulent ad clicks relies on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).

Obtaining and withdrawing consent: the first time you launch the app in these regions, a screen asks for your consent for advertising. You may decline, in which case you are shown limited ads that do not identify your device. You can change your choice while you are in a region where it applies, in the app under Settings → Change ad settings.

Your rights: you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Note, however, that the app has no sign-up and we hold nothing that identifies you, so we cannot locate and hand over data about you as an individual. The numbers in your pockets and your settings exist only on your device and disappear entirely when you delete the app. For data relating to advertising, you may also use the contact routes set out in the privacy policies of Google and Meta.

Transfers outside your region: in the course of showing ads and obtaining exchange rates, information may be sent to providers outside Japan, including in the United States and South Africa.

Complaints: you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country.

10. For people in certain US states

This section applies to residents of US states with their own personal information laws, such as California.

“Sale” and “sharing”: we do not sell your personal information for money. However, in order to show interest-based ads, identifiers assigned to your device and your approximate region may be passed to advertising partners, which under some state laws may be treated as a “sale” or as “sharing”.

How to opt out: the first time you launch the app in one of these states, a screen titled My data preferences appears. Choosing “Don’t sell or share my data” stops information from being passed on for interest-based advertising. You can change your choice while you are in a region where it applies, in the app under Settings → Change ad settings.

Your rights: depending on the law of your state, you have the right to know about, correct and delete your personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. Note, however, that the app has no sign-up and we hold nothing that identifies you, so we cannot locate and hand over data about you as an individual.

Minors: we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Financial incentives: we do not offer any financial incentive in exchange for personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may change this policy as necessary. When we do, we will announce it on this page, and the revised version takes effect when it is posted here.

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use set out the conditions on which we provide the app. By using the app you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms and to the Google Play Terms of Service.

1. Pricing

1. The app is free to use. While you use it for free, ads are shown.
2. Purchasing Remove Ads inside the app (a one-off paid purchase) stops ads from being shown. The price is shown in the app and on Google Play.
3. After changing device or reinstalling, use Restore Purchase with the same Google Account to return to the ad-free state.
4. Cancellations and refunds follow the procedures set by Google Play.

2. Results and exchange rates

1. We make every effort to produce correct results, but we do not guarantee their accuracy. Calculations involving tax and discounts round fractions below one yen, so the result may differ from the amount actually charged by about one yen.
2. Exchange rates are those published by ExchangeRate-API, updated once a day. They differ from the rates used at bank and exchange counters and for card payments.
3. Reading with the camera may fail or misread, depending on the lighting, the typeface on the price tag and any dirt on it. Treat the amount read and the converted result as a guide, and check the actual display before you pay.
4. For important transactions or payment decisions, please confirm the real amounts and use your own judgement.

3. Storage of data

The numbers in your pockets and your settings are stored only on your device and not on our servers. We therefore cannot restore data lost through deletion of the app, device failure, a change of device or similar.

4. Prohibited conduct

When using the app, you must not:

• Act against the law or public order and morals
• Modify, reverse-engineer, or copy and distribute the app
• Tap ads fraudulently or cause others to do so
• Cause nuisance or harm to us or to others

5. Changes to, and discontinuation of, the app

We may change the app, or stop providing it, without notice.

6. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for loss arising from use of the app, except where we have acted intentionally or with gross negligence.

7. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms as necessary. When we do, we will announce it on this page, and the revised version takes effect when it is posted here.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the app shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
